Mother's Day

This was Daniel's and my first Mother's Day. We had a wonderful day, brunch in the morning followed by dinner at the Prime Rib. It was so nice to eat in a real restaurant with my family and so wonderful to celebrate this day with both my mother and my son.

Mommy's home

May 9 2008

Today I was discharged from the rehab. I came home in a paratransit van with Kyle following behind. When we arrived at my parents condo Daniel was in the middle of a bottle. He stopped drinking and looked at me in shock like "what is the hospital lady doing here at Mommom and Poppop's house?" but he had a great big smile on his face and was definitely happy to see me. We are sharing the bedroom and having a great time hanging out together.

Impending Freedom

I have finally been given a discharge date from the hospital. I am heading to my parents place as of Friay May 9, just in time for Mother's Day:-) I will be staying there until after my knee surgery since there are no steps. Daniel and I will be sharing a room again so hopefully we can both sleep through the night. It will be so great to spend more time with my little guy. Can't wait.

Passover 2008

Passover was a few weeks ago and Daniel went to North Jersey for his first seder. I was unable to accompany Mommom and Poppop on the trip but the pictures of Daniel and his cousin Avi are just too cute not to post. Daniel and Avi are 3 months apart in age but quite close in weight and height. It will be fun to watch the two babies grow over the next couple years. So far I'm not sure they really paid too much attention to each other.

Crawling!

So this has been a big week for Daniel. In addition to his first tooth he is learning to crawl. He's been trying for a while but yesterday he saw his Sesame Street book and it was a few feet away. Well what Daniel wants he gets and he worked his way over to the book. Unfortunately I haven't witnessed this yet but Mommom and Aunt Debra have seen it. Yesterday Mommom and Poppop took Daniel for a nice long walk over the bridge to see Penn, his future university. They got to the bookstore just in time for storytime with Winnie the Pooh. He is now outfitted with all the baby Penn gear they could find:-) Dental School Class of 2032 here we come!

Daniel's First Tooth

Daniel's first tooth popped through today. It was discovered during his visit to the rehab center by his Bubbie. I both saw and felt it. No wonder he's been a little cranky lately. In other news, Daniel finally had his 4 month check up this week. Due to problems with our pediatrician he went to see my pediatrician at Broomall Pediatrics. he got all his shots and although he wanted to cry he couldn't help but smile back at the nurses. Dr. O'Mahoney got on the phone with me to let me know that everything was perfect. He is a very healthy 13 lb 3 oz and 25 inches. Still tall and thin. He is doing great, such a busy baby always playing. He has learned how to roll back from his back to his tummy although no one has actually witnessed it yet!

4 months

So unfortunately I am still here in the hospital updating you on Daniel's progress. The good news is that I have gotten clearance to move to rehab as soon as a bed is available. One step closer to being home with the baby! Daniel is now rolling over from his belly to his back. It's so cute to watch him trying to roll and then when he succeeds. He is also interacting much more with his toys. His favorite is the caterpiller from his activity mat which we keep here at the hospital and hang from my bed. He gets so excited to see it and hugs it all the time....right before shoving it in his mouth. Everything is going in his mouth these days. Have to start being careful about little parts on toys. He also loves to talk, he tells me stories every day when he arrives for his visit. If only we spoke the same language. I'm trying to teach him Mommy but we'll see how long it takes for him to say that! As you can see above he is already routing for the Phillies as well. That's my boy!
