Crawling!

So this has been a big week for Daniel. In addition to his first tooth he is learning to crawl. He's been trying for a while but yesterday he saw his Sesame Street book and it was a few feet away. Well what Daniel wants he gets and he worked his way over to the book. Unfortunately I haven't witnessed this yet but Mommom and Aunt Debra have seen it. Yesterday Mommom and Poppop took Daniel for a nice long walk over the bridge to see Penn, his future university. They got to the bookstore just in time for storytime with Winnie the Pooh. He is now outfitted with all the baby Penn gear they could find:-) Dental School Class of 2032 here we come!

Daniel's First Tooth

Daniel's first tooth popped through today. It was discovered during his visit to the rehab center by his Bubbie. I both saw and felt it. No wonder he's been a little cranky lately. In other news, Daniel finally had his 4 month check up this week. Due to problems with our pediatrician he went to see my pediatrician at Broomall Pediatrics. he got all his shots and although he wanted to cry he couldn't help but smile back at the nurses. Dr. O'Mahoney got on the phone with me to let me know that everything was perfect. He is a very healthy 13 lb 3 oz and 25 inches. Still tall and thin. He is doing great, such a busy baby always playing. He has learned how to roll back from his back to his tummy although no one has actually witnessed it yet!

4 months

So unfortunately I am still here in the hospital updating you on Daniel's progress. The good news is that I have gotten clearance to move to rehab as soon as a bed is available. One step closer to being home with the baby! Daniel is now rolling over from his belly to his back. It's so cute to watch him trying to roll and then when he succeeds. He is also interacting much more with his toys. His favorite is the caterpiller from his activity mat which we keep here at the hospital and hang from my bed. He gets so excited to see it and hugs it all the time....right before shoving it in his mouth. Everything is going in his mouth these days. Have to start being careful about little parts on toys. He also loves to talk, he tells me stories every day when he arrives for his visit. If only we spoke the same language. I'm trying to teach him Mommy but we'll see how long it takes for him to say that! As you can see above he is already routing for the Phillies as well. That's my boy!

Daniel's new cousin

Daniel's new cousin arrived February 27. Avi Broches Wylen the son of Jeremy and Alys Wylen is Daniel's 2nd cousin. The boys are only about 11 weeks apart so we are excited to have them grow up together. Avi's bris was March 5 and my mom was able to get a few pictures of the boys together. Avi looks like he is almost as big as Daniel already even though he is 3 months older!

February and March

So things did not continue as expected starting with February 1. Daniel and I went out to run some errands and when we got home I took a freak fall in our driveway. Just an awkward step and the next thing I knew I had completely dislocated my knee. The ambulance took us to Elkins Park Hospital but we quickly determined that I needed to be at a trauma center and we were transferred to Albert Einstein Hospital. Dr. Chaudry my vascular surgeon had me in the OR for many hours repairing the popliteal artery which I had torn in order to save my leg. So far I am still here in the hospital recovering from that. After I am released from here I will have to come back and have my knee repaired as I tore several ligaments. After that I will be hopefully back to normal (or close to it).

Daniel has been doing great. He is staying with his Mommom and Poppop while I am in the hospital. They have been getting assistance from many members of the family, most especially his Aunt's Rebecca and Debra who sleep over often to get up in the middle of the night and let Mommom sleep. He is getting so big I can't even believe it. Luckily we are able to have Daniel come visit me every day. He is better than the medicine. He is playing with toys now and can pick up toys all by himself. I hear that he really enjoys hanging out on his activity mat at home. Daniel is very strong and likes to stand up (assisted still at this point) all the time. He also has started scooting himself around in the crib.

Visitors from Maryland

January 19, 2008

This weekend my college girlfriend Barbara came to visit with her son Joshua who was born September 11. Hopefully our boys will be friends as they get older. Barbara's husband was in Atlantic City for the weekend and Kyle was away on business so we had a nice girls weekend with our babies. It was fun to see a baby a few months older than Daniel so I know what to expect in the coming months. Hopefully we can go visit them in Maryland soon.

7 weeks

January 15 2008

This week Daniel experienced his first loss as one of our cats passed away. Phoebe was only 5 so this was somewhat unexpected. Luckily he is too young to know what happened although his father is taking it very hard. Also this week we spent an afternoon walking around downtown. Daniel was all bundled up in his new snowsuit and he slept the whole time while I ran errands with my parents.
