We had a wonderful trip this week to Boca Raton. We stayed with GG but also visited with Poppop Joe and Mommom Ev, as well as some other friends who live in the area. Everyone kept apologizing for the cold weather but compared to the feet of snow we left behind we thought the weather was just fine. We visited a nature preserve where I had promised Daniel we were going to see animals. Too bad that the turtles, snakes, fish and sharks we saw didn't count. He was hoping for lions, tigers, goats and cows. Guess next time we'll have to hit the zoo!! We also got a chance to swim in GG's pool. It took Daniel a while to get used to the water but he was getting pretty brave by the time we got out. It was very nice to get away for a couple days, especially in the winter.
This winter has been crazy here in Philadelphia. Many winters we get nothing but a flurry but this winter we are really getting slammed. For example, this weekend we got about 2 feet of snow! The scary part is we are expecting more later in the week. Here are some pictures and video's of Daniel and the snow.
Daniel has on occasion sat on the toilet but nothing has ever happened while he was there. We have a ring to go on the grownup toilet with Elmo on it so he likes the idea of sitting there. Sometimes he tells me he needs to poop on the potty to try and delay bedtime. This morning while we were getting dressed he went and got his potty seat and told me he wanted to pee on the potty. So we went in the bathroom, I put him on there and VOILA he went!! Very exciting!! Although I am not quite ready for full time potty training yet. It was a happy step in the right direction:-) His favorite part is the toilet paper and then getting to flush!
I think we are there. Daniel can be the sweetest cuddliest guy one second and in full on screaming tantrum mode the next. (guess which one I like better?) He is very opinionated on everything, ranging from what he wants to eat, to watch on tv or, to which pajamas he deems to be acceptable. I do my best to give him a couple of options any of which are fine with me to make him feel like he is in control a little bit. He has a few favorite books now that he has pretty much memorized and I can hear him sometimes in his crib reading them to himself. He is also talking up a storm. He repeats everything and is talking in full sentences. It is fun to be able to have real conversations with my baby boy! We do have a good time now that Daniel is a little older. Here is some video from a trip to the zoo we took this morning. He loves playing with the goats in the children's zoo, it has been a favorite of his since our first trip there almost a year ago. He also enjoyed watching the gorillas and the lions and tigers.
Daniel and Suzy had a playdate at one of Daniel's favorite play spots, the Treehouse Play Cafe in Chestnut Hill. They have such great toys and it is a nice place for the mommies to socialize as well. Here is a little peek at Daniel and Suzy trying to seesaw together, they may need to practice a little bit before they get this one down!
Daniel's cousin Noah has arrived a little before we were expecting him. Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Steve were expecting Noah to arrive April 1 but he decided he just couldn't wait so January 15 Noah Michael Silver entered the world (sharing a birthday with Daniel's Aunt Francine!). He is super cute but since he will be residing in the NICU at Lankenau hospital until he is a little bit bigger Daniel will have to wait a little while to meet his newest cousin.
This blog is to document the development of our son Daniel. He was born on November 28, 2007 weighing in at 6 lb 9 oz and 20 1/2 inches. I can't wait to see how he grows.
