8 Months

So this has been a busy month for everyone. Daniel is doing great. He is pulling up on everything. He is starting to cruise and he practices his balance by leaning down to pick things up while holding onto the furniture. He wants to be standing all the time. When he does crawl it is usually on his hands and feet rather than his knees. He also throws his toys on the floor when he wants to be put down. We are introducing new foods to him and found out that he thinks watermelon is yummy but he is not as fond of pureed chicken. Of course no meal is complete without Cheerios. They are Daniel's favorite and he is finally starting to get them in his mouth on his own. He thinks all meals are supposed to include Cheerios and I think he would eat them all day long if we let him. One of Daniel's favorite new things to do is play with blocks. He loves to knock down the towers that people build for him. At Mommom's house he has been playing with blocks that once belonged to me which is cool. Here at home he has blocks I had bought for him and he seems to be taking to those pretty well too. So things with me have been going pretty well too. I spent the last 2 weeks at rehab for my leg, Daniel spent his first weekend alone with his Daddy and things went great. They had a really good time together. This weekend I came home for the first time in 6 months and the 3 of us are together again under one roof. So far so good but it is hard on all of us since I can't do a lot of things yet. Daniel got to try out playing in his pack-n-play and as long as there are a lot of toys in there he was happy. He got to check out some of his toys that he hadn't seen yet like his rocking horse which he thought was pretty cool. Daniel is also making new sounds and noises. He has started saying dada although I don't think he actually knows what it means yet. He also figured out how to stick his tongue between his lips and make noise which is funny although it gets pretty drooly. He is just such a happy, giggly baby, we are so lucky!

7 Months

I can't believe Daniel is already 7 months old. He is crawling like a master now. All over the place. He has started pulling up to standing on the furniture. He can't wait to walk but I'm sure that will still be a little while. He now has 6 teeth, 2 on the bottom and 4 on top. We are adding new foods all the time. He loves all of it so far but especially cheerios. This week we also gave him Nilla wafers which he thought were pretty yummy. Daniel loves bathtime, he gets so excited when he hears the water running. He is such a happy smiley baby. The funniest is when he holds a toy in his mouth and crawls around with it like a puppy dog. So cute!

Bathtime

Daniel loves bathtime but up until now he was using the infant tub in the kitchen sink. This is partly because neither his mommy nor his mommom could kneel on the floor by the regular tub. Today his Aunt Debra gave him his first real tub bath. He was in heaven! He had his hands under the water flowing into the tub, then crawled (swam???) back and forth across the tub. He had such a great time. Such a water baby, can't wait to get him into a pool or the ocean!

Father's Day

Daniel's first father's day was spent at a barbecue at Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Steve's house. It was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time. Unfortunately Daniel's 5th tooth was trying to pop through and he was pretty cranky. It's rough cutting teeth!!

Crawling!!

Daniel has been trying to crawl for a while. He was moving around quite a bit pulling himself along, getting where he wantd to go, but he wasn't really truly crawling. June 7 that all changed. Something clicked and he was on the move. One minute he was on his play mat and the next he was in the hallway watching me brush my teeth. He definitely prefers the rug to the hardwood floors. Now that he has mastered crawling he is just itching to walk. He can pull up on people and furniture but I think we have a little while before he can actually get himself moving.

A visit from cousin Avi

Today we were visited by Daniel's cousin Avi along with his parents Jeremy and Alys and his Aunt Elisheva. We had a really fun day playing with the boys. Daniel is 11 weeks older although they are close to the same size. It was great to watch them check each other out. Daniel of course thought it would be fun to pull Avi's hair just like he does to me. Both boys were very well behaved all day and played very nicely with all of the toys in the living room.

6 months!!

I can't believe Daniel is already 6 months old. It still seems like he was just born. Daniel mastered the art of sitting up shortly before turning 6 months. He usually is able to stay upright until there is a toy out of reach. He isn't quite crawling but he does get around pretty well. He gets on all fours, rock back and forth and then gets up on his feet and hands. It is so cute!! We had his 6 month well visit this week and he is now 14 lb 8 oz and 26 1/2 inches. This puts him in the 10th percentile for weight and 60th for height. The doctor said he is doing great. His third tooth broke through this week also, it is one of his top middle teeth. He's got quite a bite now! We also introduced fruit last week. So far he has had bananas and pears. He likes having an audience while he eats which is one advantage of living with your grandparents. He has quite a cheering section. Daniel is really starting to "get" how his toys work and figure out which ones play songs etc... It's so much fun to watch him develop. This morning he even slept until after 7!!! Now if only that could become a habit:-)
